10 Best Cars and Trucks for 2022

These are the cream of the crop if you will. Every vehicle, SUV, and truck on this ten best cars list shines above its competitors because it performed exceptionally well in our testing and dependability surveys and has critical active safety features as standard equipment.

Cadillac CT4-V Blackwing

You might think that the CT4-V Blackwing, which has 472 horsepower, is just a sidekick to the CT5-V Blackwing, which has 668 horsepower. Even though this idea seems reasonable, it is not true. Even those who like the bigger Blackwing agree that the smaller one is still a beautiful car. Now, the true believers stood up to say that the CT4-V Blackwing is the better sports sedan of the two.

Cadillac CT5-V Blackwing

So far as we know, oddsmakers in Vegas don't let people bet on the winners of our 10Best list. But if they had, the Cadillac CT5-V Blackwing would have been the most likely winner. Its numbers are impressive, for sure. Okay, they're amazing: a supercharged 6.2-liter V-8 engine that makes 668 horsepower and 659 pound-feet of torque, a curb weight of just over two tonnes, a standard six-speed manual transmission, and rear-wheel drive.

Chevrolet Corvette

We love a good show. We also like to save money. That's why we love the Corvette's appeal, its superpower, and what sets it apart from the hundreds of other cars, trucks, and SUVs on the market today that didn't get the votes: It's the best performance bargain. But if you think the Corvette is more about the deal than going fast, it is faster around a difficult track than anything else on the list, even the Porsche Boxster and Cayman, which are lighter and drive more smoothly.

2022 Tesla Model S

The Model S from Tesla is also one of the best cars on our list. It's fast and powerful, and the Plaid version is one of the fastest cars ever made. The estimates for fuel economy are impressive, and few EVs can even come close to the driving range of this Tesla.

The Model S is fun to drive because it turns quickly and has a smooth ride. There is a lot of space for cargo, and the seats are comfortable and firm. But a few other luxury electric cars have more user-friendly infotainment systems, and a number of them have better interiors.

The Model S is a great car, and it should be a top choice for buyers looking for a thrilling EV. But people who want to buy a Model S also need to have deep pockets, because even for a luxury car, this Tesla has an incredibly high starting price.

The Ford Bronco

Buyers of the Jeep Wrangler have had to settle for less for decades because that was the only way to get a four-wheel-drive that could go anywhere and whose roof and doors could be taken off. You could say that the Jeep's charm comes from the fact that it looks old, but Ford's new best vehicle, the Bronco shows that there is a much better way.

Honda Accord

Everyday supervillains don't have much flair. The Commute and the Last-Minute Carpooler aren't as scary as the Joker or Dr. Doom, but like a bad plan, a boring drive or a crowded car can make you feel hopeless. Even though the Honda Accord might look like any other boring sedan, it is a revelation to drive.

Kia Telluride

Every superhero needs a fixer who works behind the scenes. This person should be as quiet as they are helpful. Think of Pepper Potts, Alfred, and the person who makes sure Aquaman's trident is always sharp. The Kia Telluride is that car. It can't pull a 787, win the Baja 1000, or do a wheelie, but it's probably the car we recommend most often because of how well it does everything. It makes the mundane tasks of daily driving more fun. This SUV is the happy key to everything.

Porsche 718 Boxster/Cayman

Speed is what the Porsche 718 does best. The 718 looks quick and is quick. Fast-blur-the-scenery. Fast without trying. Fast times two, in fact, because the 718 line is made up of identical twins with mid-engines: the Boxster droptop and the Cayman fixed-top, both of which we honour again here. Their performance heroics have been passed down for four generations. It's clear that it's in their DNA, which seems to come from a place that only the engineers in Zuffenhausen know about and have access to. Since the Boxster was first sold in the United States 25 years ago, it and the Cayman, which came from planet Porsche for the 2006 model year, have won our 10Best award 23 times.

Ram 1500

We tend to look up to sports cars and sports sedans when it comes to heroes. But there are times when you need the space and power of a pickup. Too long ago, living the truck life meant putting up with a bumpy ride, a boring interior, and frequent $100 fill-ups. Then the new Ram 1500 came along. In 2009, it started the pickup-truck coil-spring revolution of this century. This meant that a bumpy ride was no longer a given in pickup trucks. Ram made the inside of the truck like a luxury sedan because it knows that many people drive pickups every day. With the optional turbo-diesel 3.0-liter V-6 engine and four-wheel drive, the latest Ram gets better EPA fuel economy than the Kia Telluride. The EPA numbers for the all-wheel-drive Telluride can be matched by a 3.6-liter V-6 with a four-wheel drive.

Subaru BRZ/Toyota GR86

Every hero has a flaw, and the original Subaru BRZ and Scion FR-S (later Toyota 86) had two: the way they delivered power and how well they held on to the road. The rear-wheel-drive chassis was great, but the tyres had about as much grip as bowling shoes, and the 2.0-liter flat-four engine had a "death valley" around 3000 rpm. But, as you can see from the fact that the Toyobaru twins are on this list, they fixed it. In a big way.
